Consistently high standard of dentistry. I was first referred from my GDP for a complex root canal with Rory mac Sweeney, who is an incredibly talented, meticulous, and academically up-to-date endodontist. Then I was wise enough to go for an orthodontic consultation with the inimitable Stephan Van Vuuren, who, it transpires, is the lead trainer in the UK for FastBraces. He has just fixed my smile -- in a mere 7 months -- so I'm going to post some photos and more details about my experience, for anyone out there who is thinking about it. I was initially skeptical about FastBraces. I couldn't find any impartial academic studies to support the claims or safety. However, this is fairly common with branded private cosmetic interventions, as there is (for good reason) not much public funding available for scientific research into them, and the mechanisms of action are largely cloaked behind patent law. However, I didn't have £6,000 or 2 years, per standard braces, so I just took the plunge. I can only speak from experience, but the first thing I noticed about FastBraces was that they really are fast braces. Like, really fast. Within a week my teeth had shifted. Sometimes I'd wake up the next day after an adjustment and there'd be a new gap between some of my teeth. Even though I had some pretty gnarly twisted canines, and also went away to Canada for several months in the middle of treatment, I still ended up with straight front teeth and a smile I like in just over 6 months. Overall, I cannot recommend FastBraces highly enough. Especially with Stephan, who is a source of constant good humour. It's the best £3k I've ever spent. And it's going to last for the rest of my life! One of the under-reported benefits though is that I can now finally floss/interdental brush between all of my teeth! My dental hygiene, as well as my smile, are grateful. If you're thinking about it, don't, just go for it. It's only 6 months. I only wish I'd done it sooner.
