I would not recommend this dental practice! (We have since found much more professional, kind, conscientious and honest service locally - do your research and read other recent reviews similar to our experience) My partner attended for what we believed would be a routine hygienist appointment. When the £40 deposit was taken over the phone, we were not informed that the appointment was private or that the total charge would be £165. This was never clearly explained or agreed in advance, and it is significantly higher than any previous hygienist appointment he has had at this practice. There were also serious concerns regarding a filling that was carried out. My partner was charged for an NHS Band 2 composite filling, however an amalgam filling was actually placed. He was not offered a choice of materials and no discussion took place about the options or any cost implications before treatment. This raises concerns about informed consent and transparency of NHS charges. English is not my partner’s first language, which makes clear communication even more important. In this situation, it did not feel like enough effort was made to ensure that he fully understood the treatment or the costs involved. Unfortunately, this left us feeling that he may have been taken advantage of as I was not there for the first time during his last appointment. I raised these issues in a formal complaint to the practice. The practice manager, Maria, did not address any of the key points of my complaint in their response, took no responsibility and has not replied to my follow-up email. Because of this lack of resolution, I have now escalated the matter to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO). In addition, our experiences with the reception staff have often been disappointing. On several occasions they have come across as indifferent and at times quite rude, which only adds to the frustration when trying to resolve concerns. That said, I do want to acknowledge the hygienist he had from before whose name I don’t know unfortunately, who had always been kind, professional and lovely during my partner’s previous appointments. Our positive experiences with her are the reason we continued attending the practice for as long as we did. Patients should be able to trust that treatment options, NHS charges and private fees will be clearly explained and agreed in advance.

I had an amazing experience with Dianna, the dental hygienist at the practice. This was my first ever hygiene appointment at 25 and I was understandably incredibly nervous, but Dianna was extremely reassuring, friendly, and patient with me throughout both appointments. She explained every step she was taking while repeatedly checking that I was doing okay. She made my whole appointment feel nothing but calm, comfortable and relaxed. I’ve been singing her praises to all of my friends and family and honestly couldn’t recommend her enough. What a great asset to the dental practice. 🙌🏼👏🏼 Many thanks Dianna.
